Libyans have a right to expect that officials who abused their positions under Gaddafi to commit crimes or violate human rights will be removed and never again allowed to hold public office.

(Beirut) – Libya’s General National Congress (GNC) should vote down the latest draft of a new law to bar Gaddafi-era officials from holding public office. The proposed law’s provisions and procedures for exclusion are too sweeping and vague, Human Rights Watch said. Further, a recent amendment to the provisional constitution would prohibit judicial review of the law. A vote is expected in congress on May 5, 2013.

The resistance against the former president Gaddafi was legitimate. However, the rebels not

only allied with the NATO, sacrifying real Libyan independence, they also commit warcrimes with little

distinction between them and Gaddafi.

INTRODUCTION:

After 42 years the dictatorship of Gaddafi has come to an end
However, the new rulers don’t deserve any benefit of the doubt
They didn’t trust on the strength of the Libyan people and made alliance with the NATO
which only serve Western interests
With a pro Western regime, the Libyan people can forget any real independence and
social advancement
Regarding human rights they made a bloody beginning with the apparent extrajudicial
execution of Gaddafi and his son Mutassim
Prisoners have been tortured and humiliated
There are vehement racist attacks on African migrant workers and black Libyans
When the situation stays this and those responsible for torture and violence
don’t face prosecution, the former Gaddafi dictatorship will be followed by a next one

Zo, dus Thatcher is gisteren overleden, op een leeftijd die zeer veel van de slachtoffers van haar neoliberalisme nooit hebben mogen behalen. De media staan al vol met terugblikken, opvallende citaten van haar, analyses over wat ze allemaal heeft veranderd in Groot-Brittannië. Boegbeeld van keihard neoliberalisme, vijand van “de samenleving” als iets waar collectiviteit en solidariteit in tel zijn, nationalistisch leider tegen zowel Argentinië als tegen boeman Europa, bondgenoot en vertrouweling van dat andere rechtse boegbeeld Ronald Reagan. Dat was Thatcher. Er is nog wel meer, en lang niet alles bestaat uit oppervlakkigheden en clichés.

Medeplichtigheid KLM aan uitzetting gezin naar onveilig Afghanistan/Brief aan KLM

MEDEPLICHTIGHEID KLM AAN UITZETTING GEZIN NAAR ONVEILIG AFGHANISTAN/
Geachte  lezers,
Opnieuw dreigt uitzetting van vluchtelingen naar een voor hen onveilige situatie
Deze keer betreft het de Afghaanse familie Khorshidi, bestaande uit vader, moeder en
drie kinderen van 14, 9 en 4 jaar naar onveilig Afghanistan
De Nederlandse Overheid is in eerste instantie verantwoordelijk voor eventuele door het
gezin te lopen risico’s, maar ook de KLM als vervoersmaatschappij, die zich immers in
dienst stelt van de Nederlandse Staat [en daaraan dik verdient] om deze mensen te vervoeren
Aangezien de KLM op de hoogte is van de risico’s en hier toch vrolijk mee doorgaat, is
zij moreel verantwoordelijk voor de eventuele humanitaire ramp, die dit gezin kan overkomen in oorlogsgebied Afghanistan
Daarom spreek ik de KLM aan op haar verantwoordelijkheid.

Julian Assange political asylum], admired his social engagement and anti imperialism [5], which sometimes led to  exaggerated admiration

Door zijn Westerse politieke tegenstanders en media werd de  nadruk gelegd op zijn ”dictatoriale” kant en zijn onderdrukking [in eigen land] van de vrijheid van meningsuiting
Deze kritiek werd grotendeels gedeeld door mensenrechtenorganisaties als Human Rights Watch en Amnesty International

Bij dezen wil ik graag uw aandacht vragen voor het volgende:
In uw berichtgeving dd 3 december ”Israel verwerpt kritiek op
bouwplan” vermeldt u, dat Israel, bij monde van premier Netanyahu
de Amerikaanse en Europese kritiek op ”het besluit om 3000 huizen
te bouwen in Oost-Jeruzalem en de Westelijke Jordaanoever” [uw bewoordingen]
verwerpt
Na vermeld te hebben, dat zowel Groot Brittannie als Frankrijk hierover
de Israelische ambassadeur op het matje hebben geroepen, eindigt u uw
berichtgeving met de door VN Secretaris Generaal Ban ki Moon gemaakte
opmerking, dat de bouw, als die doorgaat, een nekslag is voor het
vredesproces
